Recuerdo: Family Game Night
Front
This assemblage/shrine was exhibited at the Art Center of Corpus Christi during the All Membership show held April 4-30, 2003.
This assemblage is a shrine to a game I have enjoyed playing with my family since I was a little girl. The front is made with cut loteria cards, tissue paper and sealer on a recycled cigarbox. I've added a wooden knob on the front (lid) for easier opening. |

Recuerdo: Family Game Night

Back
Recuerdo: Family Game Night
This is the back of the shrine. The picture is an enlarged photocopy of the "La Sirena" card. Loteria cards have a riddle or saying on the back of the picture describing it. Traditionally, players are supposed to figure out what the picture is when the caller reads the riddle. I added the saying that is on the back of this card along the sides of the cigarbox. The back and sides are also covered in tissue paper and sealer. |
