Jewelry Care

Sterling Silver          Gold Fill          Beads and Stones         Storage

Cleaning Sterling Silver

  • Use a silver polishing cloth such as the Sunshine cloth.  Or
  • Use a paste of baking soda and water.  With a soft toothbrush, rub gently.  Rinse the piece and dry thoroughly.
  • Be careful with surrounding beads or stones with both methods.
  • The chemicals in some liquid cleaners are too harsh for pearls and some stones.

Cleaning Gold Fill

  • Wash gold fill pieces in soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Cleaning Stones and Beads

  •  Body oils, lotions and perfumes will begin to slightly alter the color of some stones.  Stones can be wiped with a soft cloth before storage.  Wash in soapy water occasionally.  Remember to dry thoroughly.   Don't wear your piece of jewelry when swimming or bathing.

Storage

  • Use a zip-top bag to store you piece.  Doing this doesn't look as nice as when you hang your piece in a jewelry box, but it will reduce some tarnish.  Pearl jewelry should not be stored in plastic.
